Oscillating Stereotomy, UT Arlington

Structural Surface Research

Oscillating stereotomy is a redefinition of the modular masonry unit that utilizes stereotomy technique and takes form in oscillating curves to expedite construction time, supply the need for a reusable temporary structure, increase material efficiency, and facilitate quick deployment.

While using the running bond pattern, the module sitting between the oscillating point has to be a S module. A S module is designed by mirroring half of C module.

Experience learned from this research is used to create a xeriscape installation at Northpark Mall for an AIA Dallas event, 2016. The structure is then donated to an elementary school.
